Coordination of the ESD university network Baden-Wuerttemberg

In cooperation with: University of Education Ludwigsburg

The „University Network Education for Sustainable Development Baden-Wuerttemberg, short form „ESD-University Network“, is a network of universities and their academic staff in the federal state of Baden-Wuerttemberg. The network members are engaged in fostering the implementation of sustainability and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in higher education institutions in Baden-Württemberg. The network originally arose from the project „Learning beyond the day – education for a world fit for the future" of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of the federal state of Baden-Wuerttemberg in 2012. Each year, its members as well as outsiders who are interested meet about three times to discuss opportunities of how to foster the implementation of sustainability and ESD in the area of teaching, research & development as well as institutional management. Beyond that, in the past the network also gave a feedback regarding ESD in the new curricula for school teaching as well as in the regulations for the new Bachelor and Master degree programs in the state of Baden-Württemberg. Speakers of the network are currently Prof. Dr. Armin Lude (University of Education Ludwigsburg), Prof. Dr. Silke Bartsch (University of Education Karlsruhe) und Prof. Dr. Alexander Siegmund (Heidelberg University of Education). From May 2014 until March 2015 the second position for coordinating the network´s activities has been executed by the Department of Geography.
